1. Really good phone and great customer support

   It was better than I thought it would be, can even download apps that came out just this year which i didnt expect it to. like that it has a screen keyboard as well as physical one. I got it sooner that I thought so too. and with really nice customer support that would answer any question I had. I love it

2. Best of both worlds

   I asked my son to do some research and find me a flip phone that could use apps for around $300 (Australian) not really thinking such a device existed and he found this. Perfect for my needs when out and about. I like a phone that discreetly fits in my pocket and being a flip phone the screen is protected from damage. I need to use a few apps (COVID check in especially) and can do this. Mobile phones were initially large then they got smaller and now have got large again except for this one. Love the retro look and great service from Kazuto, couldn’t be happier.

3. A great phone and great customer service!

   First of all, Kazuto was really prompt at receiving the order, shipping it and telling me the security code once it arrived. The whole process took less than two weeks. The security code was an extra measure to prevent theft in transit. With this phone being so stylish and unusual, I can see why someone would want to steal it! :)
   
   Here are some quick pointers for anyone who is thinking of buying this phone:
   
   1. To use the physical keyboard for typing, make sure the input is set to the OpenWNN Japanese input keyboard (it also has the Latin alphabet). The virtual Google keyboard did not register with the physical buttons. Maybe another keyboard from the app store would've worked but I didn't try it.
   
   2: Using the stock Launcher3 works best for navigation with the physical keyboard as it highlights what you're currently selecting. However, you may want to use a different launcher for aesthetics and organisation. In this case, I found it more necessary to rely on the touch screen, as many of the shortcut buttons (e.g. Camera, Gallery, Open Browser) are not supported on different launchers. This can be somewhat remedied by installing a button remapping app, e.g. KeyMapper, to allow you to use these physical buttons however you want to.
   
   Onto the benefits of the phone itself. It's small, lightweight and fun to handle. The Android 7 OS is currently sufficient for the basic needs of the most common apps. Having a slow typing speed and small screen can be a little frustrating sometimes but it's still beneficial for people who don't want to be tempted to watch YouTube or browse the internet aimlessly. Although you can still do these things if necessary, you'll be more incentivised to focus on the real world. So I'd say this phone is perfect for those who want to reduce their screen time :)
   
   My only small detraction of the beautiful design is that there's no 3.5mm audio jack, although the phone does come with an adapter.
   
   Overall, a great blend of the smartphone's touch screen and the compact form and tactile pleasure of a flip phone. I wish that more hybrid phones like this would be made on the Japanese market, although it seems this trend may have died with this 2017 phone. A bit sad. :(

4. Probably the best overall android flip phone for value.

   The Freetel Mode1 Retro Android is everything it is advertised. Practical, has good connectivity, memory space, screen size, is well built and the right size for portability and fitting in a pocket still. What an excellent product backed up with top level service that the Japanese have been renowned for. Would not hesitate to continue to buy further phones and related technology from Kyoex in the future. Cannot recommend them enough.
